District heating for Graz
Commissioned by VERBUND – Austrian Thermal GmbH& Co KG, Siemens AG Austria planned and constructed an 800 MW combined gas and steam turbine power plant for the already existing power plant at Mellach/Werndorf close to Graz. The power plant was designed to generate electric power and district heating.
In summer 2009, the GDK Mellach consortium, made up of the companies Strabag AG and Porr GmbH, assigned the responsibilities for the static-constructive processing of the following crucial components to Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH and BHM Ingenieure Engineering & Consulting GmbH: cooling water intake structure, high voltage switchgear, sub-substructure for both the Mur and Mühlbach bridges, natural gas reduction unit and solar panels.
