Old iron – refurbished instead of thrown away

In the route network there are countless historic supporting structures that make the heart of many a person beat faster. These are subject to ongoing bridge inspections and rehabilitation as needed.

Last week, the rehabilitation work on the riveted steel truss structure of the “Kainachbrücke Bahn km 35.740” near Bärnbach entered the home stretch.

Under the protection of an assembly and safety scaffold, structural parts were blasted, rivets replaced and KO protection added.

Of course, the whole thing happened while the railway was running.
