New roof for Vienna round gymnasium
Yes it is around the multiple gymnasium of the MA51 in the Steigenteschgasse in Vienna. In the course of a general renovation, the existing membrane roof was dismantled and replaced by a steel supporting structure.
The Stako, which weighs around 95 tonnes, has a diameter of around 45 m and was quickly given the nickname “spoke wheel”. The load-bearing system was optimised for Metallica Stahl- und Fassadentechnik GmbH, the details were statically calculated and the steel structure planning was prepared.
