New Construciton Medcampus Linz
Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH was commissioned with the structural support planning of the complete new construction.
In 2015, the Kepler University Clinic started an EU-wide, public realisations competition covering the general planning of the construction of a new campus building at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz.
This competition was won by the architects LORENZATELIERS.
In total, on the site of the medical faculty of the JKU, there will be four, physically separated function areas consisting of Administration, Teaching and Research, Laboratory and a Library.
A unique engineering challenge is the construction over the top of the existing underground car park. Construction of the campus complex is to commence in 2018, with completion planned for 2021. The area that the project will cover will be approximately 30,000 m², with construction costs estimated to be EUR 70 M.
