MedCampus Linz opens with virtual anatomy!

On 13.09. the new campus of the medical faculty of the Kepler University Linz was ceremoniously opened. After 3 ½ years of construction, 4 new buildings rise up to 40 meters in height and encompass the campus square.
Where once there was a green underground car park roof, new premises have been created for the KUK. Statically not so easy, especially since the existing garage was not designed for this. Another special feature is the “JKU medSPACE” – a 9 m high black box in which the anatomy of the human body can be experienced virtually in 8K and 3D. The new centre for teaching, research and administration is designed for around 2,000 people and cost around 105 million euros. The building costs were raised by the province of Upper Austria, the running budget of the faculty is financed by the federal government. Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH was responsible for the structural design.
