IKEA Wien West Train Station

Shortly before the end of the year, Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH received the exciting news that we will be able to work on the planning of a new IKEA store at the Wien West Train Station in the city centre.

The IKEA store in Wien West will bring to life a unique City-Store concept. Querkraft Architekten emerged as winners of the architectural competition. Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH are responsible for the structural planning and testing engineers as per the Viennese building code. An especially challenging aspect for the static calculations is the underground train that runs directly underneath the object as well as demolishing and then constructing a building within the inner city on a currently occupied location. The project started in 2017 with the handover and opening currently set for 2021.
