Construction of new Magna Assembly Area commenced
In Thondorf, Graz, Porr Bau GmbH is currently building an assembly area covering 15,500m² for Magna. The load-bearing structure is made from pre-fabricated, reinforced concrete elements. These are manufactured by the companies Rauter and Habau.
The structural design and the construction planning are provided by Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH, with the architectural planning done by Scherr & Fürnschuss. The support column grid is 25 x 25m, with the largest pre-fabricated elements amassing approximately 64t, and containing 23.5m³ of concrete and 11t reinforced steel.
On June 26th, 2016, construction of the heaviest supporting structure commenced – a moving moment for all parties involved. The delivery was organised by the special transport company Felbermayr. The pre-fabricated elements were lifted by two mobile cranes with a lifting force of up to 130t each.
