Ceramics in gold

At the TU Graz 2 buildings are in the home stretch, Thomas Lorenz was live at the facade. At the Innfeldgasse campus, two new building complexes with a total investment volume of approx. 55 million was realized by the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft. These are "Data House" and "SAL Building", 2 new research centers in the field of Data driven Business and Artificial Intelligence.

Both buildings are designed according to the same principle and convey a campus-like character with their arrangement of squares, green spaces and avenues. The building envelope consists of passive house components and, together with the high storage mass of the concrete structure, is designed to reduce heating or cooling requirements. On about 10,000^{m2 of} facade area are housed different types of facades. In the foreground is the curtain wall ceramic facade with its tubular elements, also known as a “baguette” in technical jargon. Other elements are window band facades, mullion-transom as well as aluminum cobond facades. Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH was commissioned by Metallica Stahl- und Fassadentechnik GmbH with the facade statics for this project.
