AT&S Volt – Final spurt
The new "R&D Center" in Leoben-Hinterberg is in its final phase. Here are a few impressive pictures of the construction progress.
In March 2022, AT&S CEO Andreas Gerstenmayer announced the start of construction of the new center for research and development in the area of IC substrates. In addition to an office wing, the 44,000 m² facility also houses a prototype line and small-series production.
Among other things, this was only possible due to the enormously high degree of prefabrication with approx. 3,500 units. Solid and semi-prefabricated parts possible. “The dimensions of the support structure are huge,” says structural engineer Rebeka Krizaj.
Due to high vibration requirements, a two-dimensional soil improvement in the form of DSV columns was carried out. The FT columns of the 3 to 6-story skeleton building have dimensions ranging from 0.80 x 0.80 m to 1.00 x 1.00 m, and the ceilings were designed as 1.0 m high FT ribbed or FT waffle ceiling elements. Reinforcing bar diameters below 20 mm are rarely found on this construction site.
Thomas Lorenz
and his team are responsible for the structural design in the submission and execution phase and are working on the construction project together with the team of Architects Collective, which is in charge of the submission and foreman planning. “The common architectural and structural design model is linked to countless specialist design models for ongoing design coordination and clash checking in virtually real time, which has saved an enormous amount of time,” says Martin Pramhas, head of the design department at
Thomas Lorenz.
The preliminary project planning was done by Unit4 and IBH – Tragwerksplanung GmbH from Stuttgart.
Commissioning is planned for this year.
We congratulate all those involved on this masterpiece and thank them for their excellent cooperation!
