ARGE Lorenz-Lorenz structural engineer for general renovation of the Sisters of Mercy in Linz
Ordensklinikum Linz GmbH operates 2 hospitals in the Upper Austrian capital. A 30+ master plan was drawn up for the Barmherzige Schwestern site in Seilerstätte, which includes the conversion and expansion of the approx. 100,000-square-foot clinic envisions. Thomas Lorenz is with his brother in the structural design!
The BHS site dates back to 1841. Over the next 8 years, more than 200 million euros will be invested in modernization. Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH participated together with Lorenz Consult ZT GmbH in the two-stage negotiation procedure for the award of the structural design services and was subsequently commissioned as ARGE Lorenz-Lorenz.
The hospital, which consists of several components, will be adapted and renovated; one component will be demolished and completely rebuilt. The centerpiece of the renovation is the new surgery center.
The different construction eras, cramped space conditions and the conversion during ongoing operations present special challenges.
