EXPO Pavillon Shanghai

Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH was commissioned by the architects consortium SPAN-Zeytinoglu to perform the structural engineering for the Austrian Pavillon at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.

In Shanghai, the complex building style was developed from a steel girdle system that had a geometry that mimics a scientifically realistic steel skeleton. The girder system was made up of a spacious steel construction which was complimented with concrete objects mounted on the ceiling and walls.

At the time of the proposal, special attention was drawn to the fact that the entire construction could be fully disassembled with little effort following the completion of the EXPO.
