Over 500 invited guests from Politics, Science and (Construction) Industry celebrated the opening of the „House of Engineers Graz“ on Thursday evening, September 23rd, 2010. Distinguished guests from State and local politics as well as architects, engineers, university professors, industry and leading personalities from the construction industry joined our hosts Dr. Thomas Lorenz and Dr. Peter Mandl, as well as DI Anton Rudolf, Ing. Jörg Viertl, BM Gerhard Fürstauer and BM Martin Dohr in the celebratory event.
The official opening programme and the blessing of the building by Dechant Friedrich Weingartmann were followed by first class entertainment and culinary delights: After classic string music, guests enjoyed cocktails and jazz on the roof, a disco feeling in the underground car park, and a Running-Dinner-Delicacy throughout the entire building.
Distinguished guest speakers for the event expressed the importance of the new Competence Centre for Graz and Styria and included LR Mag.a Kristina Edlinger-Ploder, State councillor for Science and Research, Traffic and Technology, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ing. Martin Fellendorf, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the TU Graz as well as the Doyen of the Styrian Building Trade Association DI Stefan Gillich. On the prominent guest list was also Franz Kerber, Director of the Steiermärkischen Bank und Sparkassen AG, as well as DI Gerald Fuxjäger, President of the Chamber of Architects and Consulting Engineers for Styria and Carinthia, local representative Evelyn Gröbelbauer on behalf of the Graz Mayor Mag. Siegfried Nagl. Also present were: Mag. DI Betram Werle, Director of Town Construction for Graz, Arch. DI Reinhard Hohenwarter, Vice President of the Chamber of Architects and Consulting Engineers for Styria and Carinthia.
